19th Annual Family Fishing Day – Canceled
Where: Rockefeller Park Lagoon
Family Fishing Day
Each year, we take great pride in being able to host Family Fishing Day and invite hundreds of watershed residents and visitors to the Rockefeller Park Lagoon to enjoy a day dedicated to family-friendly, outdoor activities and watershed education. This event is the centerpiece of our annual programming calendar and by far our most anticipated and well-attended event, year after year. Doan Brook Watershed Partnership and our local partners love hosting this event, so it is with great difficulty that we decided we must cancel the 19th Annual Family Fishing Day scheduled for July 18th. At present, there is no feasible way to host the event while ensuring our greatest priority, the health and safety of our attendees and community. However, we will continue to stock the lagoon throughout the year with farm-raised fish so that individuals and families can still enjoy fishing and the recreational opportunities at the lagoon and surrounding parks. Remember, you do not need a fishing license to fish in the lagoon! We also implore you all to continue to take advantage of Rockefeller Park and all of the green spaces along the Doan Brook – there are plenty of great spaces to enjoy a picnic lunch, stretch your legs, and/or just take in a slice of local nature. One of our greatest assets in the Doan Brook watershed is our parklands and we will continue to highlight their value to our community even if we cannot do so through our typical programming. Finally, we promise that, so long as it is possible to do so, we will invite the community back to the shores of Rockefeller Lagoon next year for the 20th anniversary of Family Fishing Day!
