2022 Annual Meeting

When: November 17, 2022 | 7pm

Drinking Water, Doan Brook, and Great Lakes Microplastic Pollution

Microplastics in our oceans have received important media attention, but our keynote speaker conducts pioneer research on microplastic pollution throughout the Great Lakes, our source of drinking water. Dr. Sherri “Sam” Mason’s research sheds light on the impacts of microplastics on aquatic life and human health. Dr. Mason guides policy change domestically and internationally. Her research formed the basis for the Microbeads-Free Water Act, which was signed into law by President Obama in December 2015. Dr. Mason has also been awarded the EPA Environmental Champion in 2016, Excellence in Environmental Research by the Earth Month Network in 2017, and the Heinz Award in Public Policy in 2018. She is a professor of chemistry and the Director of Sustainability at Penn State Behrend located in Erie. And…is an extremely engaging speaker!

As always, DBWP staff and Board will share annual highlights and honor our 2022 watershed hero, long-time friend and collaborator, John Rode. Join us virtually. Free and open to all. Registration required via Zoom.
