Family Bluegill and Catfish Workshops

When: September 16, 2023 | 10am and 12:30pm

Where: Rockefeller Park Lagoon

Join Doan Brook Watershed Partnership and Cleveland Metroparks Youth Outdoors for family fishing fun. We’ll cover the basics from tackle and techniques to casting, fish ID and fish handling. We will even demonstrate how to fillet a fish. After learning the basics, everyone can test their luck fishing for stocked bluegills and catfish in the beautiful Rockefeller Park Lagoon. Workshops are family-friendly with about 30 minutes of instruction followed by as much time fishing as you would like.

Bring your own fishing rod or borrow one from us. Youth ages 15 years and under will receive a free fishing rod and reel combo to keep. All loaner gear must be returned by 2:30 pm. Bait will be provided. Participants should bring a cooler and ice if they plan to keep their catch. No fishing license is required to fish in the lagoon.

Preregistration is strongly encouraged with a limit of 30 participants per workshop. Walk-ups may register on-site if spaces are available.
