Where: Meet at Historical Marker at Horseshoe Lake

Doan Brook’s north and middle branches will be re-naturalized during the next several years. The brook will be relocated to a pre-dam alignment and reconnected with its floodplain. The plan for the brook is to ebb and flow more naturally; and as it does, a more riparian diverse ecology will emerge. All historical features associated with Horseshoe Lake in the last two centuries will be preserved. Join the Doan Brook Watershed Partnership, Dr. Roy Larick of Bluestone Heights, and the Shaker Historical Society to review Horseshoe history, survey the re-naturalization plan, walk the historical assets and contemplate the park’s enhanced ecology.

The hike will last approximately 2 hours. Closed-toed shoes, tall socks, and long pants are encouraged, as this hike will go through the woods. Parking is available at the Shaker Historical Society or along South Park Blvd. Registration required  and will be limited to 30 people. Fee is $5.
